pregnant in america.

my cousin told me about this documentary that she saw on netflix and highly recommended it to me. when you think of giving birth, i guess the first thing that comes to your mind is pain. but after i watched this, it made me think very differently the whole procedure, and let me tell you HOW DISTURBED i felt about this whole "system". when you ask any other women about whether or not they're going to get an epidural shot to ease the pain, most people without any hesitation replies with, "of course! i heard giving birth is so PAINFUL." i'd have to admit.. i was going to go for the shot myself.

why are we so brainwashed? giving birth is supposed to be the greatest experience a woman has EVER had.. but now why are we getting blinded by all the bullshit that the "society" wants us to do? the documentary was explaining how a woman's body was MADE so that the baby and the mother can coordinate together while giving birth. that's what we we're supposed to do... right? give birth! that's why we have our menstrual cycles every damn month. if people in the early 1900's did it WITHOUT ANY drugs, and painkillers.. why do we need it now? and why was it perfectly fine to deliver babies at home NATURALLY back then, but now it's so unusual to give birth at home now? why are people even considering c-sections when they don't need it? matter of fact why are doctors pushing the women to get c-sections just because they don't want to waste time at the hospital waiting for the babies to be delivered? isn't that why they're getting paid TONS of money? to help people? what are they good for?

people all around the world are so used to giving natural birth.. especially at home. they think it's so bizarre how us Americas rely on hospitals so much. and you know what the funny thing is? you won't believe the difference in price between the hospitals from here and in Canada. this lady had a c-section during her first labor, and she wanted her second child to be delivered naturally, and the insurance didn't approve. so the hospitals wanted her to pay $20,000 for the procedure. and if something went wrong and she needed to get another c-section, the price bumped up to $50,000. and since it was such a "difficult procedure", the  hospital wanted them to make a $5,000 deposit. so out of curiosity, she called one of the hospitals in Canada, and you know how much this whole procedure was? $2,000. yep. two fucking thousand dollars. and the hospital stay was $3,000. so she said the most they were going to pay all together was going to be about $8,000. ridiculous. this documentary was talking about how giving birth is like a money making machine for the government. why? because we are BRAINWASHED about how we have to go through prenatal care ($$$), hospital for birth ($$$), then how our kids have to go see a pediatrician ($$$). it's just like a cycle... an unnecessary cycle. sure, i'm almost positive that our kids might get sick one day and we might have to go see a doctor.. but are monthly visits necessary? why are all these visits to the doctor mandatory all of a sudden when they didn't even exist in the earlier days? they had healthy babies, and the mothers were healthy too. is America that desperate for money?

after watching this, i felt so disgusted. the thought of ME having to wait for THE DOCTOR to see if my baby is ready to be delivered or not.. just doesn't make sense. if anything shouldn't it be the other way around? shouldn't the doctor be on call for me? for the women? they're the patients. what are we paying for? for some half assed job? fuckin retarded.
